Oysterknife, 2021
Location: Jeffrey Deitch Gallery, New York, NY, USA
Duration: 24 hours
In Oysterknife (2020), the artist walks in a straight line on a conveyor belt for twenty-four hours continuously. No breaks were permitted for any reason, with the exception of a twenty-three minute loss of consciousness at hour eighteen. The walk was resumed and immediately thereafter.
This piece was re-staged as a video work exactly one year after its original performance in a single-work solo presentation at Jeffrey Deitch's New York location in summer 2021. The work is now part of the permanent collection of the Brooklyn Museum.
