Le Miroir (Acte I) is a durational performance on human duality, self-confrontation, and emotional transformation. Pairs of performers engage in ritualistic action against the surreal backdrop of the historic El Badi Palace. The work unravels the tension between violence and intimacy, highlights temporality and its mutating effect on the body and mind. An Abstract homage to Andrey Tarkovsky's The Mirror (1975), this piece transforms the space into a vessel for the preservation and exorcism of hidden emotional truths.
Le Miroir was produced in partnership with 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair and commissioned by ICD Brookfield Place Arts Programme in Dubai. Alongside the live performance at El Badi Palace, the Act II unfolded in a new iteration filmed in Dubai, culminating in a multi-channel film that will debut at an exhibition at ICD Brookfield Place in April of 2025.
Le Miroir was made possible with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Yough, and Communication of the Kingdom of Morocco in partnership with 1-54, commissioned by ICD Brookfield Place Arts.
